Glad I went bass fishing yesterday
« on: May 12, 2015, 07:54:29 AM »
A buddy asked me to show him the bass fishing ropes yesterday so I played along and it paid off.  Caught my biggest to date. :IBCOOL:

23", 6.8 lbs.  Had it eaten a second bluegill it may have made 7 lbs.  :chuckle:

Awesome fish. I'm still working on breaking the 6 1/2 pound mark. Every year I hit it hard I seem to get 1 that hits 5 1/2 -6 but have yet to break 6 1/2. That was my uncle's (my fishing mentor/idol) personal best was 6 1/2.

If I lived in your neck of the woods I'd look at a certain large lake about 30 miles to the north.  I've only fished it once but it holds lots of big largemouths, as you may already know. ;)

Haha, yes I do know it. 3/4 of my notable catches have come from there. Most of the rest have come from random un-named little ponds and sloughs around here.

Nice job!!!

Jigs (Year round but especially March, April and November/December)
Buzzbaits (June through October)
Frogs (April through October)
Lipless crankbaits (Late March, April and October/November)

These have all produced 7+ and 8+lb largemouth for me over the years

Great fish! My best is 7 and a half pounds. Still waiting for a 10 pounder to hang on the wall

My best smallmouth was 6 1/2 out of Lake Meridian, best Largemouth 7 1/2 out of Angle Lake.
Used to fish all of those lakes when I lived in SeaTac.
