Early winters creek
« on: June 03, 2015, 11:47:09 PM »
Im going east this weekend over north casades and might stop over at klipchuck/early winters.

I used to fish that creek as a kid, but can I still get to fish it? A brookie with some hot cakes and butter, and a side of bacon with an Irish coffee is my absolute favorite breakfast.

I've heard it's been closed before, I've heard it's open, East side rules get confusing...

Also, how can I figure out what's gotten burned up? I haven't been east in almost 6 years..... Is black pine lake still around?

catch it. kill it. cook it. eat it.
Forget the bear spray, use wasp killer. Concentrated delivery stream, 10X the product, and only $3.00 on sale.

I smoke two fish in the morning, I smoke two fish at night, I smoke two fish in de afternoon makes me feel alright

The creek didn't burn, don't know if it's open though.

I'll look into it later today. Black pine is still fishable from the last I heard.

Hey Jeepster.  Those are two of my favorite bodies of water.  I used to hike up the creek from Klipchuck and land some chubby trout on my fly rod.  Never tried eating any, but they sure looked good.  Your breakfast sounds great.  I might have to try that.

I'm not sure if Early Winters Creek is open or not.  Good question.

Black Pine isn't what it used to be, at least for fishing.  The forest service did some improvements to the campground with fancy parking spots, and paved trails along the margin of the lake.  There are two docks now.  We usually see fish spawning by the boat launch in the fall.  Last year, nothing.  I saw some folks fishing.  None caught all weekend, to my knowledge.

Back about 20 years my brother and I caught some bruiser brookies on topwater flies.  Black ants and caddis.  They were jumping a lot & we fried up some hefty trout that night.  Those were the good ol' days!

Good luck.  Boy a trip report would sure be nice when you get back.  Have a good trip.  Those are my favorite stomping grounds.
