Tribal crabbing is in full swing area 8-2

They are bringing them in by the barrel load at the Mukilteo boat launch.  Pretty much blocked off all access with their boats and trucks.

Full swing goes into effect a couple weeks ahead of state seasons--not just crabbing.

You should have seen them going after the halibut over near Sekiu. This is nothing new. Salmon season is the same way, but their nets and trawl lines don't discriminate what fish are caught....at least Hood canal opens in five days for us recreational guys ;)
Wishing I was fishing...or in Wyoming

Was wondering why Crabbing dropped off so much at Redondo, the last two years, then I saw a wdfw TV show, and here were Indians trapping the area heavy, and of course not even in compliance with their "own" rules, and of course, right before the sport crabbing opens.

C'mon guys, they need that seafood to make it through the winter.  They are barely surviving now days!!  I think I saw them out on the water today by three tree point, they had a scuba diver outside the boat?  You know, the same gear they used in past generations.   :puke:

They definately clean house on the crab first getting the cream of the crop and leave us sloppy seconds. What also burns is the public and state park launches being taken over. And do any of them have a Discover Pass :dunno: Nope!

Well it just falls in line with what they receive on the rest of the fish side and wildlife to for that matter

They get to start 40 days before the rest of us.  I have seen tribal pots strung out 100 feet apart from the old barge at Nisqually all the way past Zittles and completely closing off the entrance and well into Oro Bay.  It really pisses a guy off to see them off load one fish tote after another full of  all sizes of crab.  These are some of the same guys who hang around the Delta area and steal sport fisherman's pot when they leave them unattended!   :bash:

Silly injuns.... they have been racing around for 3 days they have their pots strung out in front of the house here just past the boat bouy line I can count around 30 pots along our little stretch of beach.
The boat spends all day racing back and forth fiercely guarding his territory.

I assume I will be seeing massive amounts of dead crabs on the beach soon, last time I saw lots and lots of nice sized dead crabs was after they had been doing this very same thing.

Growing up we never saw this sort of crabbing just a few locals who would row their pots out on weekends in the summer.  I will say the racing back and forth acting all territorial is hilariously funny.

Them zooming inside the buoy line where people swim and nearly running them over however is what I refer to as a real ill mannered display lacking in all prowess.

What’s with all the small boats – security?  Show of force?

Why the invasion mentality?  They’re like MY BOAT LAUNCH!! – MY PARKING LOT!!

Saw them cleaning out Port Susan yesterday.  I know a lot of the locals get their knickers in a twist about now.  Opening day there won't be anything left but undersize.  I also notice a lot of dead undersize crabs floating up on the beach this time of year.  That really gets me riled up.
