Sig Ultra Compact 1911

I am thinking of buying one have read good things about them but I would like some personal experiance so if anybody has some please tell me what you think are they good or not thanks

I have been looking at one too. from what I have heard they are actually really good 1911's considering Sig hasn't been in the 1911 game very long. also I like the 1 piece feed ramps of the Sigs, just makes the less ammo finicky.

I've been eyeballing them also. My cousin has one, he loves it. I've never shot it but he claims it to be very accurate and has eaten everything he's thrown at it. I have a full size sig tac ops and I have had zero issues with it. Eats everything and is extremely accurate. I've changed the trigger springs, hammer springs, and put in a stiffer slide spring. I had no problems with it before the changes but I do like it even better now.

Perfect timing for your post DRobnsn as I've been seriously looking at the TACOPS TB for the last couple weeks.  My wife told me the other day she was sick of me talking about it and to just buy the damn thing and shut up already but I tend to research things to death before I buy.

So you like your Sig TACOPS pretty well I take it??  What did the spring changes do to improve it??

I looked at the shorter versions, carry and ultra carry, but I have no intention of using this for CCW so I think the full size will be more to my liking.  And, the 460 Rowland kit looks like it would be a serious amount of fire power from a 1911.

Yes I do like it. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another sig 1911 and probably will get a compact when funds allow. I'm a little picky when it comes to trigger pull weights. I usually can't stand a factory pull weight. I believe the factory weight was 5.5lbs or so after the spring swap its 3lbs which is what I prefer for carry and practice. The stiffer slide spring helps with felt recoil especially with +p stuff. The hammer springs speed up the hammer some to decrease lock time. Its definitely worth the investment of time and materials.

Why did you have to mention that 460 kit  I hadn't read much about it until now. Looks like my wallet may be taking another hit in the future

I never heard of a 460 Rowland until a gunsmith friend that has one, was telling me about it while we were talking about different 1911's, well, that's not 100% true because it was more like I asked questions about 1911's and he chastised me for never owning one.  Anyway, 44 Mag fire power in a 1911 with the 460 Rowland sounds like the real deal to me and it's an easy peezy swap, too.  Now I've got to figure out which 45 suppressor to get.  I already told my wife they're a package deal, can't get one without the other.
