Grouse and Rabbit This Weekend Dec 26 -28
« on: December 23, 2008, 08:53:32 PM »
My buddy and I are both looking for somewhere to hunti grouse and rabbit this coming weekend.  It has been snowing a bit and will be raining also I think according to the weather.  Im in Mountlake and he is in Tacoma but we were looking for somewhere to go hunting grouse or rabbits.  I am not familiar with Washington hunting for grouse or rabbit.  I have a shotgun and he wants to use a bow.

LT Murray wildlife area any good?  Near Thorpe and Cle Ellum?

Thanks ahead of time.

I have a brand new 28ga S/S that was a Christmas present...totally ignorant about where to hunt grouse in WA, but shot a lot of them when I lived in Nevada...

I live in Bonney Lake.

We ended up going around the Oak creek area near Yakima.  There are chukar there turns out.  The hills put a workout on my legs and lower back.  We ended up going to the feeding station just at dark to check it out as Id never been there before.

Maybe the middle of this week Ill try to get over toward Cle Ellum and hike around with my shotgun.

If it were me I'd stay on the westside for grouse this time of year. Plent of grouse and lots of places to go, although getting there with all this snow might not be easy. If you stay in the lower elevations it shouldn't be too bad, especially with all the snow melting off this weekend.

Has anyone ever seen any grouse around the national forest along I 90 on the west side?

I thought grouse closed on the 31st dec. I am new to bird hunting so there might be something I might not know. I am still trying to get over to eastern wa for pheasant and quail before it ends on jan 19th as my last trip was thwarted by passes being closed on the 1st jan. If grouse is still open, please post!
