Wenaha East Hunt
« on: June 14, 2015, 09:17:13 PM »
I drew one of the modern Wenaha East bull tags this year.  I have spent some time in the unit, and I'm really looking forward to the hunt.  There is some beautiful elk country up there.  The first scouting trip of the year can't come soon enough; I'm looking forward to spending some time in the woods with my dad and brother as well.  I will make sure to share as much as I can as I prepare for the hunt.  It's going to be a fun journey!!

Great tag. Glad it went to someone who knows the unit. Have a great hunt with your family.

Heading up next weekend to do some scouting.  Picked up a phoneskope so hopefully i'll have some pictures after it's all said and done.  Looking forward to spending some time in the hills.

I'll be in there also for the modern season.  Maybe we'll cross paths.  Good luck!

Good luck to you guys. Hope you have lots of help or pack animals to get your animal out.
I had the archery tag in 2012 and found that most of the elk are down in the holes.
Happy hunting.
John

There were 2 bulls over 340" hangin right by the road next to our camp almost daily when were there last year hunting mt view...easily accessible. I even tried telling a couple tag holders, but nobody would hunt them...we found lots of good bulls right near the road in the E unit.

Is this wenaha hunt really as good as everyone says it is? Seems like a lot of hype...

Yeah, it's ALL hype. I wouldn't waste more than 1 or 2 points on drawing it.

Wasn't asking for sarcasm I save my points and have BA spot I really don't wanna leave not sure why I even buy permits. Was just curious from people with experience there.

Meanest nastiest steepest country you'll ever set foot in. Most people won't be able to effectively hunt it because of not being in proper shape. If a person has an ounce of 'that's to tough looking' then don't even apply. Nothing fun about it. But who said rewarding has to be fun. 😁

Unless you're in great shape and have horses or mules to pack in with dont bother applying for the wenaha hunts.
