I just picked up a pair of Lowa Cevedales and soo far they are awesome!

Did you get the bright blue ones? A buddy of mine has blue ones and it makes me laugh. Full camp and bright blue boots!

Depends on how you use them.  How a boot fits you is just as or more important than brand. Not just the correct length, but how the boot volume is designed.  LaSportiva's fit my feet, are very light, and have a very stiff shank.  They really work for me.  I'll second the suggestion of Crispi boots, so long as you don't mind spending the money and add Hanwag as another high quality boot.

Aftermarket footbeds (Superfeet, Sole, Lathrop & Sons) usually really improve a boot as do high quality socks.

IMHO, footwear (boots, insoles, socks) are more important than any other clothing item. Spend your money on your feet.

I agree with this unless it's pouring down rain.  In that case give me barn boots and good rain gear and I'm happy

A word of caution.... IMO the upper end boots (pick one, kenetrek, crispi,lowa,zambarlan, etc...) especially the "hunter hiker" category all suffer from one problem. Most consumers are looking for a "one boot for all" scenario. Im not trying to discourage you from looking at other options because many of these boots are awesome I have owned or currently own them, and always will. When I need a boot to be there for me these boots are truly where its at.

Take your typical September, Its generally hot, high mileage, rocks, scree, dirt, sand, dust, blood, sweat, blackberry thorn, hawthorne thickets, sage staubs, the occasional barb wire. Throw in an intermittent rainshower, creek crossing, or mountain dew morning t help absorb all the product, a big scoop of neglect and voila recipe for boot failure.

After a couple seasons on the HOTTER and HEAVIER expensive boots I have definitley found a use for the "cheaper" boots. For me I have a good quality pair of "mountain" boots, all leather, randed, vibram soled boots. This year it will be Crispi. These are my high country, 5 day+ backpacking and or nasty weather in september/october go to. As comfy as these boots are, and they are awesome, they dont hold a candle to my salomons for warm weather comfort, and general mileage efficiency. They can't. They weren't designed that way.... A pound less in weight and much more breathable. The majority of my september hunts will likely be with these boots, as well as all my current backpacking. Granted they are not as durable, but they are saving wear and tear on the more expensive boots at less than half the cost (sales) as well. Just thoughts to consider

Good observations blackvelt.  It's a tough combo to facilitate - early season boots that are also very waterproof and soft enough to be able to creep around but strong enough to pack in several miles...

Best boots I ever owned were Browning boots ..They quit making the ones I 1st bought but came out with another that I really like ..Very soft soles and water tight ..I can barely ear myself walk in them

These will be on my feet in oregon, idaho and montana.  Along with a pair of the trail running gaiters.  Ill use the solamon 4d gtx when the weather turns.

That is Lowa's best selling boot world wide. So, looks like you made a strong choice and I believe you will be happy.

While they are a poor boot for the PNW (they will not hold out water) I have warantee pair of Salomon Quest 4Ds that I went up Monitor Ridge (Mt. St. Hellens) with this weekend. No blisters and they have almost as much support as my Lowas.

Danner Rivot TFX GTX. Most comfortable boot Ive ever put on. But everyones feet are different. They are definetely worth trying on though. They are about $330.00. Good Luck!

I put about 10 miles on them yesterday with 4,000 feet elevation gain (thanks for the pain 117)  I really hope that the GTX holds up.  After being in them for 15 hours, the breathability of the GTX was paying for itself 

They were fresh out of the box and I was comfortable all day.  Well the heel hurt on my right foot but that's dirt bike related.  Stupid bone bruise
