Dirty Sheets
« on: September 19, 2007, 05:00:24 PM »
Still hittin the maps and conversely hitting the trails and sticking my nose in it.  Went out past IssaQ a ways this time.  A 2nd recon mission here.  My approach showed me some carnivore sign.  Some kinda cat, maybe a coyote.  Found a few areas that smell really strongly of an animal, kind of a urine/fur/sweaty smell.  Observed a couple recent beds I think.  There was a patchy layer of grey bark all around where a young 8' Alder patch is trying to fill in.  The beds still had brown centers from a decent sized body. Plus I looked closley and found almost 3" brown/sandy colored hairs seemly too hearty to be a coyote or cat.  HERE'S THE THING.  NO DEER DROPPINGS.  These looked like deer beds and there were numerous trails leading into the surrounding woods towards black berries and such.  Found some demure looking tracks in the tall grasses but NO POOP.  :dunno:  Seems weird.  Although, I quit crapping in my bed years ago. :P

ps I tried to edit some bad grammer.  what can I say.  it bugged me.

Bigfoot? :bs: Be real.  Hey, I've even seen what looked like a permanent tent dwelling out in the woods.  That's one way to keep out of the mortgage circus.  So you never know.  It's bad enough that I poked all around the site.  I may as well have peed everywhere and left a note:  "Hey, your season's almost here and I'll be back with a tag for your head.  Take care!!"  I figure the droppings are disguised in the grasses and ferns where they're eating near there.  Clean beds make sense.  I just wanted more recent clues of inhabitation and by whom.

spoor and droppings. You need spoor or droppings. I am the only animal who hides his droppings....well, cats...back up and look for spoor.

3 inch hair most likely is not at cat. Could the smell be almost like a wet dog? Multiple beds with trails leading to the black berries leads me to think you have a color phase sow with cubs.
