Little mulies!
« on: July 12, 2015, 08:37:35 PM »
I've got nothing but little spikes and forked horns running around and lone does. It's getting frustrating since I've gone as far as a 9 miles off the main trail. Only have 1 trail camera set up but it's only getting does and a spike Mulie. I've got tons of easy picking whitetails but I want my first recurve killed deer to be a Mulie. Any tips to finding the bigger deer? It's a 3 point minimum in my area and I know there are bigger bucks, I just am setting up in all the little buck areas. Is there such a thing? What kin of terrain do bigger mulies prefer? Are they solo or do they run in the herd. I've spent time glassing the hills and still nothing bigger then a 2x2 has been seen. I'm in area 101 too so the amount of small bucks and does is surprising for no bigger deer
May my presence go unnoticed, may my shot be true, may the blood trail be short.

Amen

While I'm not an "expert" on the subject it's likely that the big boys won't show until the rut. Not sure where you live specifically but if anywhere near high country and/or near wintering ground for myours you won't see them until November chasing girls.

Bucks are usually running together in bachelor groups right now. When the velvet comes off they'll split up into solo's or small groups. I'd be looking for a new spot if it were me.
