Shout-out to H20hunter
« on: August 12, 2015, 07:33:12 AM »
Here’s a big shout-out to H20hunter.  My son and his buddy are here on college break and H20hunter took time out of his busy schedule last Sunday to take us out crabbing, Humpy fishing and jigging.

The guys now have a new experience to share with their friends.   There was some talk of dropping out of Pharmacy school in Birmingham and heading to the Bering Sea to join a crabbing vessel, but that idea was quickly vetoed!

We checked pots then trolled for a couple hours.  No action on the rods so pulled 2 pots and ran back to the other 2 pots closer to the port.  Dropped those and went jigging for a short time.  But long enough for the guys to pull up and release 3 Rock fish.  We ended up with almost 3 limits of crab and a couple gift Humpy.

The boys had the full experience of pulling pots, baiting, cleaning the crab, stowing gear,…  All I did was take pictures and enjoyed a couple adult beverages!

It was a terrific day and many thanks to Devin!

I should indeed be out killing bear. However, with all the "house stuff", buying, trying to sell, all that nonsense my bear hunting is limited.

We had a good time. Couple bullet points for me.

*We were fishing for cabezon and had a few incidental catches of rockfish that were released unharmed.
*When rolling up to Anthonys be a touch less direct at the young man waiting tables....he is not used to "tall beer and fish and chips" orders barked at him by a couple of salty dudes while the brunch crowd is just settling in.
*Leave the cheap beer for the boys...us men enjoyed a delicious Fresh Squeezed IPA.
*The boys were a lot of fun. Do what your told once, then do what you are supposed to be doing without being told. They dialed the process in right away.
*Friends are even better to have when they are on the water at the same time. Terminal gear and rigger ball donated on the spot by Buckmark and his buddy.
*12 hours on and off the water, two trips in one day is a butt kicker.
*Its fun to make fun of someone that tries to pee 7 times before getting it done. Stagefright is a B.  :chuckle:

I'll take 'em again anytime.

Yes it is! A lot of people underestimate how hard it can be to pee in front of people with your dingler dangling over the water. The water is cold... and deep.
I hunt, therefore I am.... I fish, therefore I lie.

Sounds like a good time was had

On the peeing thing, we use a large wide mouthed plastic salsa bottle.....that says "shake well" on it  :chuckle:
To hunt and butcher an animal is to recognize that meat is not some abstract form of protein that springs into existence tightly wrapped in cellophane and styrofoam.
