First time using game camera
« on: August 29, 2015, 10:19:24 AM »
Set up my first game camera 7-20-2015 and went up to swap memory cards on 8-22-2015. Well, 2776 pictures later I learned a few things...
1) I should probably set the camera for more than a 1 minute delay between photos :o
2) After tromping around for an hour setting up the camera and some elk snacks I figured elk would steer clear for a while until my scent died down. Wrong. It took them about four hours to get there after I left and they stuck around for two hours. I was wearing my work shoes, probably covered in all kinds of smells... and I trimmed back a bunch of branches. None of this seemed to bother them.
3) Only elk live in my hunting grounds :dunno: 2776 pictures all of elk, not one deer, bear, cougar or even a squirrel... fine by me

I figured I'd post this one picture of the elk sticking his tongue out. This is what I picture them doing to me right before they bust me and take off running :)

I started using a trail camera this summer for the first time. In June when I checked it the first time I was excited that my first four pictures were of moose. Then about 2700 pictures after that of blades of grass blowing in the wind. I learned a little bit about sight prep before I throw a camera out there.

Yea, I learned a lot from the over 3000 blades of grass I picked up  :yike:
Since I have picked up a cougar, a sow and her cub and three different moose.

Is there a way to change the sensitivity on it? I have a stealth cam.

No clue about the Stealth cam - read or download the owners manual.  My 5 year old Bushnell cam has sensitivity settings based on heat.

Here's another note - I'm not sure you can predict where birds will show up, but I've had a couple hundred shots of birds since spring- this after never having a single one in the preceding 4 years.
