Going elk hunting around Metaline Falls and Ione any suggestions on a place to start looking? I have never been up there and have no time to scout the area.

There are always a few hanging around the cement plant. Once the season starts they run through the parking lot.

Thanks guys; you just gave away my  two best hunting spots. I put a camoed blind in that parking lot every year and have permission to put a stand on one of the cement towers. Since I am busted, could someone PM me an alternate plan; maybe the garbage dump or city park.

Where, isn't that all closed due to fire activity?  I thought everything east of the Pend Oreille River was closed.

Welcome to the site Ryan.   :hello:

People who know about the NE elk have a goldmine of information.  It took me four years of scouting and hunting the NE before I killed an elk.  I am no Will Primos but I can say it's pretty difficult compared to other units.
Kindly do not attempt to cloud the issue with too many facts.

My advice is don't ask for a specific spot. Talk about what terrain they like ore maybe some rut calling tips. People would LOVE to help and give you tips, but they won't give up their secret honey holes.

That's not true!! I did answer the question honestly. It might not be one of the ideal spot's but there are Elk there.

I got some good information from the Border patrol offices. They are out on the roads everyday and walk some trails too.

You have to understand that when someone says "i have no time to scout the area" everyone here is saying to themselves "yeah we all have lives but still make time to increase our chances when the season comes around."

Sorry but no one has time, they make time.  Good luck this season.
