Peaches Ridge muzzy help please?
« on: September 13, 2015, 07:04:36 AM »
With excessive amounts of mandatory overtime worked and caring for my mother who recently had surgery, I have not had near the time planned for scouting this year. I drew the Peaches Ridge Muzzleloader bull tag with hopes of aggressively scouting but the plan just did not work out- that's life. It looks like I will have 4 solid days to pursue a bull and I need to make the most of time away. If anyone has any helpful hints or tips as to areas to concentrate my efforts- I sure would appreciate it. Thanks.

I feel your  pain . In 2011 I drew a Goose  Prairie  tag and took a  new job just after  finding  out . The folks  on here were  very  helpful .  Wish I  knew  the unit, but  I'm sure  you  will  get  the  help  your  looking  for .  Hopefully  the BULLS  will  still  be  talking . That  should  be  a  great  hunt  Good  Luck .
SHUT UP & BENCH ! ! ! Bench BIG or go Home.

Whew.  That's rough.  If you haven't scouted and you're only there for 4 days, I would say don't pass anything that gets your heart going.  If that situation were mine, I'd probably be shooting the first 4 pt I saw.

I'm not a Peaches area hunter but it's been said a million times, "Steep and Deep"

Leave it all out there, you've got a real crunch to get it done
Kindly do not attempt to cloud the issue with too many facts.

You've still got a good amount of time to scout. Get on Google earth and start checking things out. It's hard to give you any suggestions not knowing where you're located and how you plan to hunt. There are a lot of elk in that unit and I think right now is probably the best time to scout.

Thanks for all of the replies. Does anyone hunt bulls in the Taneum?  Last year I drew a cow permit and seen a handful of bulls in there while hunting the cow. It is hard for me to leave the Taneum as I know a few pretty decent areas to hunt, but I do not want to limit myself. I will be scouting on Wednesday at daylight and more than likely my initial efforts will be in the Taneum as this area I am comfortable with. Any suggestions would be appreciated-thanks.

So just curious, you said you drew a cow tag for the taneum unit? Isn't the tanuem unit cow or spike bull only for general tags? In still trying to understand the whole lottery thing with the points and such, what does a cow permit give you in that area that a  generAl tag wouldn't?

Taneum is open for spike only general muzzleloader season. Last year I drew a muzzle loader cow permit.
