Just moved to Whatcom County
« on: September 16, 2015, 09:01:42 AM »
Hello everyone.  I know I don't have too many posts on this site but am on it every day. I have utilized the search section for information on Whatcom County as I have just moved to the area with my family.  Usually an east side hunter as I have property over in unit 204 but haven't been reading much of anything good over there with the fires east and south of it.  I've been looking at google earth around Mosquito Lake Rd and up the Mt. Baker Highway.  Also, I have been looking at Sumas Mountain.  I am interested in finding gated off roads so I can mountain bike back into.  I don't mind putting several miles on the boots or many on my bike just to access an area.  If anyone could point me in the right direction or let me know how to find online where gated roads are that would be very helpful.  We are actually moving into Lynden area just a few days before the season.  I will be scouting/hunting this year but hope to be in the area for awhile to hone in on some good areas.  Not looking for any coveted areas of your own just not sure if I should stick to finding cuts or wilderness area.  Been reading that you can get out far off Ptarmigan Ridge trail but know that the deer numbers wouldn't hold as high as if I was putting myself closer to the city limits out on the cuts.  Again, I love reading every ones posts and will continue to learn from everyone's experience as I have for several years now.  Appreciate any and all input.
