Coyote Calls
« on: January 15, 2009, 05:40:33 PM »
I am probably going to be spending some time over in the Twisp/Winthrop area this summer and am planning on trying my hand at coyote hunting.  What is a good mouth call.  I know that it depends on the situation but should I be looking at a howl type call or a distress call?  Thanks

Why not carry both for different situations? Bearmanric makes some great calls.  :twocents:

I usually carry a howler (or three) and some distress...

I am like alot of people, I carry the Primos hot dog, little dog, etc. But I like the screery rabbit distress as well.

Experiment, see what works for you...and ya, I would recommend Rick or Rainshadow, both quality calls.

Watch out for bearskies. Have fun!

If you are just starting out, stick with distress calls.  You will scare away more animals with howling unless you have someone to teach you some of the do's and don'ts.

:)I just got back from Ricks, I am a big fan of "peeper" calls. This call sounds great!!!!! I love it, great bird and rodent sounds. and it is not a "common" sound. You guys need one of these.
