I think Weatherby made a good move on this one. The 26 Nosler is a little disappointing and I think the Weatherby performance is what everyone really wanted from the Nosler. Plus Weatherby is offering a 140gr bullet which is really where the overbore cases shine. A 129gr bullet zipping along is good but incredibly hard on the barrel. These oversized cases were really intended to launch heavy for caliber bullets at high velocity.

Everyone should have a Vectronix! Otherwise you're stuck shooting short range, like 1500 yards. :chuckle:

Yeah, sure, rub it in why don't you. :)  You were one of the smart ones that bought a Terrapin, which is easily the best and most affordable range finder with capabilities to accurately range wellllll past 2000 meters, before Vectronix stopped making them.  I'd reallllly like to say I did the same but I can't because I didn't.  :bash:

The 6.5-300 Weatherby was first used as a 1000yd benchrest rifle back in the mid-60's in Williamsport.   I remember a guy I worked with telling me he shot a deer at 550 yards.  This was in 1967 before uncle sam caused find international employment.    I thought 550 yards was a fair piece of real estate (back then).

The bullet choices then weren't as good as now as they had problems with the long range bullets not expanding.

That was dumb luck that I timed it so well!

Somebody needs to get the new Weatherby and then see how fast the 160 matrix bullet can go out of it.
