Youth pheasant weekend...video

My sons first rooster at 12 years old...More important I wanted him to get a bird over our 13 year old shorthair! this bird meant everything to me! the boy made a good shot... he surprised me and made several good shots over the weekend... did some missing too! the bird in the video was a runner!!

Second, where did you get the shorthair? Those are some good genetics.

The dog was going around a wall of star thistle and sage weeds on the retrieve.. I used my Iphone believe it or not, even my wife asked what I used to film it...

the story on that shorthair is I got her out of Hubbard OR, the guy was a bird hunter and had both parents on sight...$250 !! I really didn't want a white dog or a female either, she was the runt of the litter... I had an old GSP already and was getting ready to retire... we had some pregnancy issues with our first child and my wife really wanted a puppy, I ended up bringing this dog home reluctantly.. and my wife immediately latched onto this dog.... 13 years later this has been my best dog, as pet and as a hunter! the only thing this dog didn't do is have a litter of pups, she never came into heat..
