Coyote Hunting with wind
« on: October 02, 2015, 11:38:01 PM »
Hey guys,
So in Grant county, we get wind pretty much all year, but it has been especially bad lately due to the changing seasons. My question is what are your hunting experiences in the wind? From what I have read, coyote hunting is not very productive in anything over 10 mph. However, the articles I read were not for Washington, so what being said, do coyotes adapt to their climate in such a way that they will still be active in stronger winds (say 15-20mph)? I want to get out and try and get a few but the wind gusting upwards of 20 is making me hesitate to get up early. What do you all think?
Nick

Ducks are not hard to hit, they are just easy to miss.

Hunt closer to the bedding areas. I have had great success hunting draws and protected areas in windy conditions.

Have you ever watched your or a friends horses in a 15 to 20 MPH wind , the put their butt toward the wind because it messes with the ears and eyes , Coyotes dont like or should say trust a windy day as it messes with all the senses, Take away one of your senses be it eye sight or hearing and you will also become uncomfortable, I have been calling this area for a long time , I have had productive windy days BUT they are not a given, Bedding areas can be productive but its just like any day callin coyotes , some times they come and some times they dont .Myself, if its blowing over 10 i stay home .
Love many
Trust few
Wrong None
