First, ask yourself what you want it for - scouting, killer photos of game, etc. If its just a scouting tool, you can't go wrong with he Moultrie D40. It does a great job, simple to use, takes good photos. on sale it runs around $75. Worth every penny, in my experience.
If you want great photos and you're in it for the long haul - see the Homebrew thread. IT's a natural progression to build your own because once you get a taste for this new way of hunting game, you'll be a junkie in no time. My wife just rolls her eyes...
