No mistakes today
«

Went out for three hours this afternoon, it was a slow day but was able to kill every duck I shot at. It took two extra shells as I only rocked one with the first shot and killed it with the second and one hit the water with his head up and took a second shot. All in all a good day and no mistakes. Just took one bird out of a flock and didn't try for any doubles. Too bad we can only take two pintails as I was buried in them.

Nice. One of these days I'll find some pintails.

Nowhere in your incoherent rambling did you come close to what can be considered a rational thought. Everyone is now dumber having heard it. I award you no points and may God have mercy on your soul.

Pintails have been thick lately, mostly young, eclipse birds.

Lots of pintails around the Moses Lake area. Last year same thing, it seemed like for every 4 or 5 mallards I shot I had s pintail to go with it.

AWS, I'm interested in this comment. This is my fourth season season and I've not heard something like this before. What's the reasoning?

I only have two shots and cripples can be hard to retrieve so I only take one bird and make sure its dead. I've been hunting ducks for 56 yrs and am retired. Making sure I can retrieve the birds I shoot is far more important to me than a limit. I could shoot way more ducks than I could ever eat so and I have the opportunity to hunt everyday of the season if I want. As I've gotten older the quality of the hunt is a greater measure of satisfaction than the quantity of game taken.

I really respect that attitude and appreciate you sharing it. We work on quality shots now more than anything and plan our hunts, decoys, and shooting windows accordingly. We still lose cripples, but far fewer than the first couple of seasons.

Any cripple that I can't retrieve(it happens even with a good dog), sailers(it happens and I will stop hunting and make every effort to find even if it means a long boat ride) that I can't get to, are counted in my bag.
