WSTA Spring Bussiness meeting/Campout
« on: January 11, 2016, 02:16:20 PM »
I spent the last few days looking at places for our WSTA Spring Business meeting. I have not found a place that suits me completely but haves settled on three options. I'll be honest I am leaning towards the third option but would like to know others feelings on it.
Participation has been down in recent years and would really like this to be more attractive to members but for this first year anyway we would not figure on any organized events except the meeting which would last most of the day Saturday. There would be time to set around and visit and we would probably have an evening campfire.
I know for you west side guys (I'm one of you) this is awful far east but I just have not been able to find a suitable place farther west (That we could afford).
Open to suggestions for next year.

For those not familiar, the Spring Business meeting is where we go over finances, objectives, plan for the Summer Rendezvous and other business as it comes up. Generally lasts about 6 hours and we usually serve some lunch halfway through.
Open only to WSTA members.

I would add a couple facts without changing the poll.
Near Cle-Elum we cannot reserve camp sites and I understand we would be during turkey season so no guarantee everyone would get a spot

Near Moses Lake we could reserve a block I think

Cashmere, I have already talked to the Fair and they would reserve us a block near the fire pit.

Bruce and I spent a couple of days looking at several areas (7-8) and we came up with three that might work for all of us.

1) Cle Elum ~ State campground, need a discovery pass $30.00 and no guarantee we will get in there like Bruce said we think "Turkey Hunting Season" will be on.  A couple of you guys could go out and shoot us dinner.   :EAT:  Primitive camping, no showers maybe 1-2 outhouses

2) Moses Lake State Campground ~ we could have a meeting in two different areas or if weather was good we could have it outside,  There is a boat launch so you could go fishing or sit around and shoot the bull with the rest of us.
Problem here is ~ Discovery pass $30.00, camp fee $18.00 ~ $30.00, launch fee $10.00   :fishin:

3) Cashmere ~ where we hold out annual summer rendezvous.  There are a lot of places to see around the area within 15 miles.  Places to eat if your looking for a place to take your honey out and away from us ......  :chuckle:
Camp fee is all you'll have to pay.  We (wsta) will rent one of the buildings or if weather is nice we could hold the meeting outside at the campground.

As for me, I'm like Bruce, I'll go anywhere around the state.  I like visiting with you guys talking trapping, hunting and fishing.  So we need your input so we can pick the right place for you folks.  I know a few of you are going to bring your families and we really would like to get to know more of you folks.  "US" (old guards) always like to gether together and talk trapping so let us know where you want to go.

I'm pretty sure Moses lake was $20 for Tents and $30 for RVs plus the Discover Pass.

I already checked with Chelan County Fair and we would get a meeting room for $50. They would set a block of camping spots aside for us near the fire pit. $25 and $18 per night to camp.

have we settled on a place or date?  I'd love it to be mid May in cashmere. By then I'd be back to work and tagged out on turkey :chuckle:

When you say Moses Lake are you talking about Mar-don or the State park nearby? Both of those on O'sullivan Resv.
Or are you talking about the County park on Moses Lake right below the Fairgrounds?
