Your Biggest Cow

I was just reading and posting in another topic and got this Idea. What is the biggest cow that you have killed. By weight of course.

I killed one one year that hung at 350 and I thought that was pretty big and then the very next year I took one that was even bigger at 367 lbs. I have heard of a few aproaching the 400 lb mark.

I shot one one year where I got 335 lbs of meat out of it and one the next year where I got 336 lbs of meat out of it. Both were very large adult cows.

This cow I believe would have broken the 400lb mark had I weighed her.  I've killed my share of cows over the years, but this was by far the biggest.  Keep in mind that I am 6'1 and run right around 280lbs.

The first elk that I shot was a cow ( every elk that I've killed have been cows ) ( I'll post a pic as soon as the girls get home to show me how ) that hit the scale at 465 lbs.. I shot her in the Green River Water Shead, back when they drew tags for 5 point bulls ( or better) or antlerless. I shot the cow because the hunt was cut short.. The meat cutter said that if her didn't know me he would swear it was a young moose.

I shot a Cow quite a few years back on a permit hunt in the King Creek area of the Kapowsin tree farm (before the fees were charged) that weighed 347 hanging weight and was 10 1/2 years old. She actually ate pretty well for that age. There really were some "Old" Elk in the Hayday of that Tacoma watershed hunt. The first year they had it I knew a guy that hunted hard for a B&C type trophy and settled for a 4 point Bull (after passing on many much bigger) the last couple hours of the hunt. That Bull only had 4 points and the horns were pretty short but they were about as big as your forearm in diameter and it was over 16 years old when he got the results back from the game Dept.....................Les

I shot one in the Mission Unit about 20 years ago and the 4 quarters hanging at the Butcher Shop weighed 420lb.

i buddie of mine who just passed away last week r.i.p. vern. claims he shot a cow that wieghed 2400lbs and got 1800lbs of meet out of it 

but then again he always told all these crazy fish stories. and at the funeral they showed a slide show of him and alot of those fishing stories ended up being true after seeing the pics.

so idk...maybe he was telling the truth about the elk too.

biggest cow that I had and actually weighed was a little over 1500 pounds live weight!!

I had one that was 1400 lbs hanging weight, but that was a hereford cow.  
My biggest elk cow was close to 600 lbs hanging.  She was a big old lead cow that I arrowed up at Clearwater.  I am surprised that she got that big due to the fact that she hardly had any teeth left.

Ive killed 4 elk in the last three years.  All have been trophies to me.  The largest was probably the one I killed with my rifle on a special permit in the Winston area last August.  Smallest was an average sized elk I killed in Oregon last September.  Here they are.

Congratulations Crunchy! You are absolutley right, those are all really nice trophies. There is something about getting an Elk on the ground, regardless if it has headgear or not, that really makes one feel good.

That one with the rifle looks huge.

My biggest cow.  Taken in 2005.  Ended up with ~175 lbs of processed meat.

I killed this nice sized cow this year but didn't get her weight.
