Elk area 6010 question
« on: November 11, 2015, 10:37:51 AM »
I've got a few acres of rural pasture land and brush on a creek in 506 - Willipa Hills that falls inside the Mallis/6010 elk area.  I've never considered hunting it before but I was thinking that if I don't fill my deer tag during MF, I might go check it out for archery deer with my Multi-season tag since it looks like it gets browsed pretty well and presumably has no pressure.

I also still have an unfilled archery elk tag - after reading the regs, I can't figure out if I can hunt for elk during late archery on my own land there, inside the 6010 elk area (without a special permit).

Can someone help me out?

506 is open for late archery, so yes you can hunt there. Antlerless only. Should be a good area for deer.

Thank you.

I never really understood the elk areas because the regs don't specifically talk about them, other than special hunts.  After looking closer, it appears the special hunts in that area during that time are for muzzle loader and modern firearm.

Anything you can legally hunt in GMU 506, you should be able to legally hunt in Elk Area 6010.
