And it's only like 4.5 pounds
Amazes me they still put out these heavy bows.. only the kool-aid drinkers will buy them.
I put some arrows through one today. It's ugly and shoots like a mathews.
Holy cripes! A 5" brace height, that'd be real easy to shoot.
Quote from: Timberstalker on November 16, 2015, 08:33:08 AMHoly cripes! A 5" brace height, that'd be real easy to shoot. Just wear your wife beaters and no jacket...you'll be fine! It's not as ugly as I expected. Still something not completely right with the balance and feel. Always felt as though Mathews carried heavy and bulky. It's a weird feeling. But they shoot surprisingly smooth for what they are. Mathews continued use of the much improved grip really makes a difference. I'm not in a rush to go get one. But if you are a Mathews cult member, why not? I think they missed the mark a bit. I was looking forward to this bow and left the shop disappointed. The exact opposite reaction I had after shooting the new Hoyt.
I feel the hoyts are bulky with the twin looks. Brother in law and dad both shoot hoyt and i cant stand them

Brother in law and dad both shoot hoyt and i cant stand themNot sure what you mean by "Twin Looks". I was right there with you on my feelings of the Hoyts. They shot pretty good but being nothing special, ugly, slow, poor fit/finish, everyone I talked with at the shows being a complete arrogant arse...the price just wasn't justified in the market place unless you were a logo tramp. I could not stand them either. But just like the new Halon is not your typical Mathews, the Defiant is not your typical Hoyt. IMO the difference being that the Halon is not a huge improvement for Mathews whereas the Defiant is a huge improvement for Hoyt. I'm not even convinced the Halon is an improvement at all.
I shot the BR33 sunday it's a real smooth draw. New grip is an improvement.

I will say the G5 prime shoot really well for me as well when i tried one this year.
I don't think I've shot the rize yet. Felt it but haven't put an arrow through it yet.
As far as weight...I'm on the fence as far as weight. Customers for years have been wanting longer risers and shorter limbs...while at the same time wanting a stiffer riser. Customers have been wanting smooth shooters and more speed. Customers have been complaining about harmonics and vibration. Hard to address all those things in an aluminum riser without increasing weight. Bear BR33 - 4.2#, Hoyt Defiant 34 - 4.2#, Elite Energy 35 - 4.5#, G5/Prime Rize - 4.3#, PSE Decree HD - 4.1# All great shooters and all over 4# Even the Hoyt carbon bows, other than 30" models, are not what I would call light. PSE was almost there with it's carbon bow but hard to take them serious at 6.125" brace height and $1,400.No matter what logo you remain loyal to I just don't see anyone being able to grandstand on the weight issue. It's the unexpected consequence/unwanted side effect of getting what you want!I thought this years decision to find a new hunting bow after three years was a simple one. Was pretty darn sure I knew exactly what I was going to get before the start of October. Bear, Hoyt and Prime have really mucked up what was going to be a nice simple decision to go back to PSE. And Martin is expected to jump in this 2016 race too! I am now no closer to making a decision as I was last year. Unlike last year, though, this year it is because there are just too many great new designs with legitimate improvements. Looking to be the best year to buy a new headliner bow in maybe a decade. Pretty darn exciting! The only easy decision this year will be to sent the wife's 2014 Carbon Spyder to the trash heap.
Rad, have you looked at the Xpeditions? Under the radar and one BADA$$ bow. The company has been in the aurospace industry building parts so they surely can build a bow. I have the Xcentric and its a game changer for sure. As far as liking bows with weight, its nice to have a light bow and place the weight where you want!!!!!!!!!!!

I just won't shoot one because they seem to hate western bowhunters. I assume that because they made the rise so you can't put a two piece quiver on it A lot of good bows out there. Absolutely no reason I have to use a horrendous single POS quiver just to have a nice shooting bow. That's the reason I do not shoot the best bow Bear ever made - Anarchy. Also the reason I only used the Martin Alien for one single hour antelope hunting. No one has ever made a bow so freakin' good that you have to shoot it over all others. So my policy is, "No good quiver mount - Sorry, not my bow."But I agree with you about them being a great bow. Add that half an ounce of material and a couple holes to the Perfexion and it would be my bow of choice!
I guess I never thought of the 2 peice quiver. TIGHTSPOT and never look back. Best quiver on the market IMO
Quote from: Mxracer532 on December 07, 2015, 05:29:47 PMI guess I never thought of the 2 peice quiver. TIGHTSPOT and never look back. Best quiver on the market IMOI take it you have never used a quality two piece quiver I tried Tight Spot on the Anarchy on a hunt in Canada. Came home and gave it away for free. Didn't even want to look at it taking up space in my house. It may be the best one piece quiver out there, but I'd use a side/hip quiver before I'd put a tug boat anchor like that on my bow again. Sure would like to have a good two piece with Tight Spots arrow grippers though...that would be fantastic!!
It is a very well made one piece quiver. No disputing that. But it vibrates like a one piece, carries like a one piece, is heavy like a one piece and frankly...is a one piece.
