New Non-Typical World's Record
January 6, 2009
UPDATE 1/6/2009 - A special B&C Judges Panel declared this bull as the new World's Record non-typical American elk on 1/2/2009 with a final score of 478-5/8. (Read the full press release on the B&C home page)

The previous World’s Record for non-typical American elk was 465-2/8 B&C points. That bull was found dead, frozen in Upper Arrow Lake, B.C., in 1994, and was entered into Boone and Crockett Club records by the B.C. Ministry of Environment on behalf of the citizens of British Columbia.

For hunter-taken non-typical American elk, the previous top bull scored 450-6/8 B&C points, taken in 1998 in Apache County, Ariz., by Alan Hamberlin.

its amazing the bulls you can harvest when you've got enough money to hire a team of guides to block roads and locate bulls with helicopters, oh ya and drop 90 grand on a tag

with the tag he bought it allowed him to hunt any weapon in any season, he shot this bull during archery season in a muzzle loader only unit with a rifle  oh ya and a helicopter and a army of guys blocking public roads. but ya its a great bull

better to be harvested by someone who appreciates it than wolves, poachers or old age.  Nice to hear it made official..

i would have rather seen it harvested by a local working stiff out busting his ass with his muzzle loader

The bull was killed Sept 30 during the muzzleloader season.  Thats after 24 archery hunters and 37 rifle hunters had their chance at him.  The muzzle season was still going at the time the "spider" bull was killed.  The bull was killed in the Monroe unit and it is not muzzle only.
