Late Archery Buck
« on: November 26, 2015, 12:19:24 PM »
Well today was fun, hiked into my blind just after light, the buck I wanted was bedded down 8 yrds behind my blind! needless to say I did not look left as I went to get in, I just placed my bow inside when I heard a deer.... I turn around and there he is... SOB.... he bounds off down the drainage..... I walk over to get the SD card and get settled in. I always drench myself in estrus this time of year and hang scent wicks. About 10 min go by and 2 small bucks come walking in.. they sniff the wicks and have a bite to eat, few min later a few does show up and join the party. 10 min or so later the bucks and does start to become spooky.... I knew they could not smell me so I was hoping a bigger deer was the reason. I catch movement in the trees and this guy steps out.... I had no issues with shooting this guy even if hes not the buck I was after. A 20 yrd chip shot and a center punched heart was all she wrote. He made it 70 ish yards in a few seconds. I really loved this 35 min hunt stuff... all my other bucks have required 100's of hours on stand to kill... this was awesome. He is not a "monster" but IMO a gorgeous buck that not many would pass on. I am happy to have him in my freezer and on my wall.

Nice buck. Sounds like you were using bait, if so you mind telling what you were using for bait?
