Depends on the taxi for one thing. Can we ask to whom you took the rug? Quoted time?

Mine took about 8 months, was quoted 9 months
As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.

Sounds like you are getting the run around. Did he say what progress has been made?

That would be my first question: What has been done and yes, I want to come by and see it.

There are some great taxis out there..........and many that are average or worse.

It has been done. I think you need to have a talk in person and see for yourself what progress has or has not been made. Go from there.

pashok,
What you are running into is the biggest problem most people have with taxidermists. There are SOOOO many variables as to why your rug may be taking so long. If your taxidermist sends the hides off for tanning, then it could be the tannery that is the hold-up. A majority of taxidermists do this along with also sending the tanned hide to a 'rugger', who attaches the felt backing, stretches, dyes, etc. This could also be the hold-up, especially if its a busy year for the particular rugger or tannery.
What your taxi should have done though is at least tell you where the bear is in the process. I would suggest requesting that information. Quoting a time that a project is done is such a dangerous thing, coming to you FROM a taxidermist, because there are so many variables that can change the time-line...however with that said, over a year for a rug, or any mount for that reason, without an explanation of where it is in its developement might warrant curiosity. There are taxidermists that take more than a year; I know of a few that are phenomenal wildlife artists that are well worth the wait, however they are usually very upfront about timelines. If you signed a contract with the taxidermist you might be out of luck until the project is done, as some have stipulations that say the project belongs to the taxidermist until the project is completed.
Best of luck!

I agree....that is why my suggestion is to talk, face to face, with his taxi. See what has been done, where they are in the process, and get an idea of timeframe. Simply, no its not done, I'll let you know, in my book at least, would not be acceptable.
