« on: December 05, 2015, 11:26:48 AM »
thinking of buying one of these or one in 223. will check them out today. i have 2 ar's one in 6.8 spc and one in 6x45. wanted to get a bolt gun to throw in the mix. was looking at using 40 grain bullets. was going to use it for yote's. something different. used my ar's for a while now.

The Ruger American is twisted 1-12 you might want to look into whether it will handle 40's.
After the first shot the rest are just noise.

Make mine a Minaska

i was looking at getting a 22-250 as well just liked the 204 better. my 6x45 fills the niche! wanted to try this caliber seen some yotes shot at 300 yards with this little beast. have a 6.8 spc as well both ar's. the 6x45 is a tack driver. holes overlap at 100 yard's with reload's.

I've said before the .204 has become my fav. Fun to shoot, no recoil lazer beam.
Both H-4895 and Benchmark work great. I've shot steel out to 500 yards with the 39 grainers.
Perfect rockchuck gun!

I have a rem 700 heavy varmint barrel and an ar style with a shilen barrel and they both shoot Berger 40's very nicely with a charge of varget pushing them down the pipe.

got a call from sportsman warehouse yesterday saying they could not get any more ruger 204's right now. not sure when they will be available again. kind of a bummer. may just get a 223 instead or a 22-250. :'(
