Dad's 1998 Wyoming bull
« on: January 24, 2009, 03:49:46 PM »
Here is my Dad's '98 bull from Wyoming. We hunted with long time friend of the family/guide Hidden Basin Outfitters. I went along on the hunt and it was a great time in the woods with my Dad. We rode from a few hours before sun up to a few hours after dark for 4 days. We saw some elk, one good bull that did not stick around long enough for a shot. On the 4th afternoon, we spotted a group of elk from a long waze off and moved in for a shot. At the back of the group was a 5x5 bull. Dad was able to make a pair of good shots in the lungs/shoulder and he went down after about a 100 yards. We quarted the bull and covered him up with pine branches and rode out. We got back to camp around midnight! We rode back in with the pack animals the next morning and brought him out. Dad shot a 300 win with 180 Nosler Partition handloads. What a fun time! We also got some great cutthorat fishing in. I will never forget that great hunt! Look at the second picture, it was steep country we were in!
I felt like a one legged cat trying to bury a terd on a frozen pond!
