i know one person who got 23 or so last saturday. he tried 6 different spots to get them. said he was getting 2 per dip then a seal came by and nothing. but the people along side him were also getting a couple here and there.

seems like thats abou the just of our smelt seasons in the cowlitz.

i personaly do better jigging them in the seattle area. havent been down looking for them this season yet but its about that time of year.

The last few years me and a few buddies have done pretty well.  But from what I have heard we were pretty lucky.

It's about time for squid too if I remember right.

Sorry iceman, no sign around these parts. I havn't seen birds in the lewis in a week or 2 now, nothing doing in the cow either... It still looks like split pea soup. I think our smelt run didn't show up in the cow this year and if it did it was not on a saturday.

One of the guys i work with was in cathlamet on sunday and said there were seals (not sealions) all over the place, said there were smelt around also. Maybe this weekend will be the weekend. I saw more life in the cow today than i have in a while, 2 seals and a few birds working the area around gearhart. We shall see what comes of it and i will keep you posted on what i see and hear.
