I want the normal bear season, but I would take that over no bear season.
I would rather be a conservative nut job, than a liberal with no nuts, and no job!

Bear hunting in August is my favorite hunt.
If the August season is closed to rifle, I wont buy a hunting licence in WA next year. I'll be spending all of my hunting dollars out of state. Deer, elk, and bear in ID. Varmints in OR. and deer/black bear in SE AK. It will mean less time hunting for me, especially for yotes .

If we could get everyone to take just one year off the department would know we mean buisiness. Your strongest weopen in this case is your wallet!

The writing is on the wall. They're basically rolling this change out. They had all last fall and this winter to think it over and they have decided. I don't think anything major will change from their proposal with regards to August bear hunting.

For me personally, I'm not going to keep waiting at the station, while the bus is already pulling away. Not a chance in hell thing's will stay the same forever. That is not giving in, that's just acknowledging that thing's do change. The best anyone can hope for in this situation is a compromise.

I'd like to see that question posed as; "the only alternative to no August bear hunting", and see how many turn their nose up at it. Ray is correct, they've discussed this for a long time now, though I do think there is still some hope of alternating uses and primitive weapon areas, the trouble is they are reading this right now and firming up their own stance. If they don't feel a compromise is even worth putting any effort into, it won't be offered. :bash:

It's all a dog and pony show about public input, they have already made up their mind and this input crap is just a formality. Tell me if I'm wrong, but what has been proposed is going to be set in stone here in a bit. The private property proposal is going to stick, you can bet your A@S on that.

It sure would be a hell of a lot better than no bear season in august.

You might be right but I'm not giving up.  Loosing public land is the begining of the end. 3 years from now it could be public land during September archery.
