Browning A500R ?
« on: February 01, 2016, 11:34:49 AM »
Just wondering if anyone has any experience with these shotguns ? I just picked one up in pretty fair condition for 160$ , I have read online they are not the same as the classic A5's but it does say made in Belgium on the side (assembled in portugal) so that has to be a plus right ?. Just looking for any insight thanks ! :)

If that has the invector choke system you got a steal.  The A500R is a short recoil operated (vs long recoil on the A5).  It has a harder kick than the A5 and is not as reliable cycling.  It wasn’t that popular and has no (or little) collector value.

The A500G (G =  gas operated ) was more popular and evolved into the silver and Gold series.

But for $160 it is a Browning and with removable chokes it should be a very useful hunting gun.

Thanks for the insight and yes it does have the choke system I believe . Do you happen to know which way you turn the  adjuster for which loads?

Sorry, no but I bet that you can find a manual on the Browning web site.
