300 blackout reload question
« on: February 19, 2016, 10:04:41 PM »
Hey guys.  I have a 16" bolt rifle in 300 blackout and I have an silencerco omega on it.  I plan on shooting 208gr amax but could do 220 also.  What load data do you guys use for your subsonic loads? I'm looking at what others think is their quietest load. What powder and how many grams etc... Any insight would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

I have a 16" bolt gun as well in the blackout. I run 9.9grains of h110 and 220 SMK bullets. Very quiet.

Thanks carpsniper. That is good to know. Was it hard for you to figure that out?

Off subject but are you happy with the omega?  Shopping around for a silencer for my ruger American in blackout.

I'm happy with the omega. The bolt gun is a Ruger American ranch.  It makes the front end on that gun feel real heavy, but any suppressor would. My little boy will really be liking it when I teach him how to shoot and he gets to use it.

Same rifle I have.   Need to get the ball rolling on suppresser as I'm told it take a year or so.      Thanks again

From what I've heard it is about 4-5 months right now. But u need to buy it before July 14th before federal law makes in a giant pain in the butt to get one.

Do u have a bipod on yours? And what sights do u use?  Lastly, what ammo does your like the best?

Oh yeah pretty easy plenty of data out there and even without a chrono youcan hear the difference between super, trans and subsonic loads.

No bipod yet.   Probably go with a Harris    Put a 3.5-10 vari x 3 on it and fits it real well.   I've only shot two different rounds so far   Hornady 208 grain subsonics which shot pretty good.   The Remington 130 grain hog hammers shot much better groups bit I'm kind of up in the air on them as one was the first dud I've got from factory ammo that I can remember     I bought the gun thinking I would go back and forth between subsonic and regular ammo but the with the  difference in point of impact I think I'll just go with one or the other

I am looking at going with just a bushnell tr-25 red dot. How different was the grouping from each other?

Subs were 3 inches lower and 1" to the right versus the Remington's.  That was at 36 yards.   Haven't shot anything further yet

Don't reload yet.    Been watching craigslist and other avenues.   Hoping to buy someone's whole setup sometime in the near future

Finally got to the range after making my first subsonic reloads. 7.4 grains of lil gun with 208gr A-Max was my favorite reload with a OAL of 2.260".  I was shooting at 100yds and at 25yds it was 2" high of center.  Hope this helps some others out there. I was shooting out of a Ruger American ranch rifle.
