Went eastside with my uncle this weekend to shoot coyotes on his buddy's ranch. In the down time we opted for some. Target shooting at one gallon jugs sized 7 inches wide by 14 inches tall. We also set out some 12 ounce water bottles. Initially we moved out to 527 yards via a br 7 range finder. My uncles grandson set up behind his 7mm Rem mag with its new benchmark fluted and braked barrel. He chose to shoot at the 12 ounce bottle. His rifle sports a Leopold vary x 3 4x14 scope topped with a turret from my grandfathers 300 weatherby dial. The kid exploded that bottle in 5 shots in a 10 mph cross wind. I shot at a one gallon bottle with my AR spitting 50 grain v max 10 shots before success, Kentucky windage is close but tough. So we moved back to 965 and pulled out the benchmark shooter. My uncle has been having trouble getting a sight picture other than a black dot. After 10 minutes of struggling he said." You get behind that thing and shoot it" I got down and had kind of a hard time getting a clear view but I did get it. First shot was 1/2 inch miss. Attributed to flinching( I self admittedly suck) second shot was in the same spot as the first. A 1 click of the windage and the 3rd shot I took created a water show. Frigging AWESOME to have the bang be gone and then see the sploosh in the scope. We figured out my uncles problem with my Ar because of its adjustable stock. He needs a 14 1/2 inch length of pull stock. His rifle has 13 1/2. I had trouble with his because my LOP is 14. AWESOME Rifle, I'D have one in a second.
