Old terra cotta might not be real trustworthy. and your talking pizza so you really arent going to be heating it up more than maybe 500 tops it sounds like a fun project, Alton Brown does cool stuff and the guy seems to also know how to science.traditional pizza is cooked around 700 degrees for 90 minutes or soYou making pizza flavored charcoal?I can't imagine eating any pizza after it's cooked for 90 minutes at 700 degrees.

90 seconds So used to cooking in minutes I slipped up, meant seconds. 700 degrees is actually kind of the minimum temp for pizzaI've been wanting to make an oven and outdoor cook kitchen for BBQ, smoke and grilling and baking so been researching on it some. I'll defer to 92xj since he's actually cooked in an oven this hot.
The outdoor wood fire oven is the way to go I built one four years ago and you can cook or grill and bake any thing.[can,t load a pic.
