I'm confused....Yakama Nation, Navy help?
« on: March 28, 2016, 10:38:36 AM »

Please keep this on topic.

I'm not looking to invite any bashing just trying to understand.  I can't quite understand what point he is trying to make.  I saw Bigtex's post about Russians and remembered this link.  Seems that the Yak Nation is also hinting at other countries taking fish allowing less to return?

I'd like to hear from those who may know or better understand....  What is this all about...

Sounds like bottom line is he wants help protecting the resource, from countries over fishing to sea lion predation...

I got the impression he wants the Navy/Coast Guard to patrol for fishing vessels coming from countries like Russia/Japan/China that can and do enter US waters and net/trawl illegally. Perhaps Canada has an impact as well. He was confusing but I like to hear a tribal member talk about working together with all user groups, that's refreshing. The tribes mentioned have done a lot for the Columbia River salmon runs, they certainly deserve their share. :twocents:

The USCG already conducts fishery patrols in our waters to make sure people from other countries do not fish in our waters.
