Flatbed?
« on: April 16, 2016, 08:16:04 AM »
Just got some damage on my Ram 8' box.  Thinking about using the insurance money as down on an aluminum flatbed.  Any other options besides Protech.  They seem to make a good product.  Options I should consider.  I will want an auxillary fuel tank on it.  Probably increase the 50 gallon I currently have.

Real trucks have flat beds good choice. Ive found that my steel ones hold up better to the abuse i give them. Depending on the location of your tank You may also consider a titan extended fuel tank. Fairly spendy but leaves space open on the truck.

Some good places to go are The Fab Shop in Edgewood if you're on the South end or North End Truck Equipment in Marysville to the North. If you're in E WA I dont know any places to go.  Both of the ones I listed have done good work for me.

It's mounted solid now.  Made it home no problem.  Heck all I need to do is wire the lights.  Thanks for the bargain price.  Gonna make one heck of a road kill rig.  :chuckle: :yike:

I could send a couple but can't get to post from this computer.  Unloaded it by myself without a hoist.  Nothing more than a pump jack and a few 2x4's.  I'm good at that when no one is watching.   ;)

Project is underway.  Got the flatbed off by myself and no overhead :o hoist  :yike:.  Nothing but a hydraulic jack and a rabbit hole to crawl to the front of the bed.  Box is off with engine hoist and come-along hanging on a weak truss.  No spectators allowed.  :bdid:  Clean things up and build the mounts, I'll be back on the road.  Next question is air shocks or air bags? :dunno:

Firestone bags

Trying to figure out if those are compatible with my B&W bolt on goose neck hitch setup.  Looks like they both mount in the same general location.   Might have to give Firestone a call.
