Best gps unit.

Did a quick search and couldn't find a subject on the best gps.  I have an older rino but it has a glitch, probably going to send it in and see if they will give me credit towards a new one.  I was leaning towards the unit just under the 650, don't need a touch screen.  But want the ability to install the chips for different states.  What's your favorite, easy to use gps??

If you want another Rino I suggest the 650. If you don't want a Rino I prefer the 60 series models like the 64s. Most current GPS models except the low end basic ones can accept a micro SD card.

isnt there a 530hcx model?  I think it's a bit cheaper and the only advantage is the touchscreen on the 650?  I have friends that have the rinos so the radio location ability is something I want to stick with.  Bob, do you think the extra money for the 650 is worth it?

The Garmin 64 will also do Glonass, the micro sd card  slot will also accept a 64gb card, plenty enough for storing nationsl navigational maps and several states topo.  I dont believe I have ever lost signal in any terrain.

I think the 610 has many less goodies including a weak radio.  No-go.  I have 655 and love it.  Menu is a little hard to get used to and screen is smaller than I like but works real good.  Camera and geotag is great to use.

Garmin rates the transmit distance of the Rino 530 being 14 miles, and the 650 being 20 miles. I don't necessarily believe either distance is realistic under most conditions, but the fact that Garmin rates the 650 as being capable of transmitting further is meaningful to me.

Another thing is I don't think the 530hcx has built in memory if that's something important to you.

It will store 500.

I've got over 15 gps's. I think there's several "bests". Certain ones are faster. Certain ones  are better for hunting applications. Certain ones are better for fishing applications. By far the Monterra is the best overall. It's bigger, but better overall.
