Boat Size
« on: September 29, 2007, 10:10:37 PM »
Hello everyone..  Just curious what waterfowlers from WA consider "Big Water" and what size boat you think is needed?  I am new to the area, just moved from Minnesota.  I have fished and duck hunted lakes in MN from my canoe, that were well over 4,000 acres in size, with no issues.  Obiviously, with certain weather patterns anything can happen, wind, rain, etc.  I  have a 14 ft duck boat that I am prepping as I type this, thing is I still read posts from forums back in MN that swear if your not in a 19 ft. duck ranger :IBCOOL: you can't survive    Just wondering what you all think.....

To me big water in WA means hunting off the columbia or pot holes resivor. I've been on both in a 12" or 14" with calm water. But when the wind and weather picks up you can't go wrong with a bigger boat. You'll get more stability and have a safer ride. My two cents worth!
