What about stoats also hyenas are more of a weasel then a cat or dog I have heard

Stoats are in the weasel family (Mustelidae), hyenas are the only members of their family Hyaenidae (three species of hyena plus aardwolf), mongoose are civets, Herpestidae, which are analogs of the Mustelidae in Africa and tropical Asia (if you believe in niche theory and convergent evolution )

Yes, I'm sure there may be other members of this handsome (weasel) family but I'm pretty sure they are not very common in the elk woods
