Mutton Buster IV 3-D Shoot in the Yakima River Canyon
« on: May 28, 2016, 09:07:25 PM »
Hi guys, we're looking forward to seeing as many HuntWA guys as we can at the shoot coming up in a couple of weeks.  For those that haven't shot this, its a GREAT western bowhunting shoot and for those that have know that it will be better than ever. More big game targets and smooth course routing and marking.

We hope to see you guys.  Thanks!

Make sure to have a 100 yard pin or a reference point on your site.  We'll have Traditional stakes as well and it is a very fun time.

Thinking about going . Is there any place to set up my pop up trailer over there to camp for the weekend?

Yes, there are several.  Big Pines Recreation Area, Lmuma Creek (is about 1 mile from the course entrance), and Umtanum Recreation Area are all right there in the neighborhood.  There are some nice spots on the river to set up shop.

We'll be having a beer and soda garden under the deck at Canyon River Grill (at Red's Fly Shop) from 3 pm - 5 pm on Saturday after Day 1 of the shoot. We'll give away the brand new Elite Bow and many other prizes at 4 pm. This will be a fun way to end Day 1. Shooters that want to compete will come back Sunday morning to compete with other shooters of similar skills in various flights. We'll give out target assignments at 7 am Sunday morning, you'll need to be to your target assignment at 8 am. Most of us will just be shooting for fun, so you can certainly shoot just Saturday, Sunday, or both days and not worry about your score card. This is going to be a great weekend! Again, please invite your friends and share with others!

There will be a great mix of shots on the shoot guys.  Kids will have a good time on most of it, and I'll have some small game targets for kids and trad shooters near the registration area.  (high energy setups are tough on those small targets)

The Challenge Course will be just that, very challenging!  2/3 of the shoot is pretty easy walking and shooting.  Everyone will like courses A and B.

Thanks guys, hope to see you all there on Saturday and Sunday.

My son and I went yesterday. He won the bow, 12 years old. He is pretty pumped.I cant wait to get it set up for him. We are going to look at replacing the limbs with 40-55lb. He is currently drawing 35lbs and is determined to be up to 40 by summers end. I told him its not going anywhere and not to rush it. Bow aside, we had a great time.

Lucky kid.  I had a fun time shooting with demontang and his 3 boys.  Boys were a great change of pace from the girls I have at home.
