Beacon Charters

Anyone have any experience with Beacon Charters out of Ilwaco?
My daughter won a free day with them, so I will be scheduling a trip this summer (unfortunately my trip is not free)
I was wondering about any advice, or recommendations...
Never been on a charter before, not really sure if I can afford this one, but hate to disappoint my daughter...
Nasty trick to give away a free trip at a youth trout derby knowing that no parent would let the kid go alone...
But I guess that is how these things work.

Not having any experience with charters, what questions I should be asking him while planning our trip?
I am assuming it will be an August trip because I sure would like to catch some Kings and as far as I understand that is the best time for them at the mouth of Columbia.

What info do you need? Fishing or preparation questions should be asked to the captain/guide. Every guide and charter is slighty different. Ask what your fishing for and what you need to come with. Most send this info out with their confirmation email when you book.

Like normal fishing, get ready to have fun and make sure you bring good rubber boots, a good water proof jacket, and maybe some small snacks.

All you really have to do on most guided trips is to show on time, be prepared to kill some fish as well as for any weather that may come up.  If you get sea sick bring your meds

Charter can be a blast if they put you on fish.  Even if they don't put you on fish, if they have a good crew it is still a great trip.  Check out their Web page if they have one and it will normally have a checklist of what is included and what's not.  Most of all, just show up ready to have a great time.

Good luck to your "Big kid fun" trip, but when it comes to Fathers Day my kids want to be with me.
Matter of fact, it is almost impossible for me to sneak away on any outdoor excursion without my kids, Fathers Day or not.
My kids like me, and they like fishing and hunting.
I would not have it any other way.

Again, good luck on your trip, Why did you remove your post?
Considering my daughter won the trip, I am sure as heck not going to take the prize for myself.
I can barely afford to go as it is.

Everyone has different priorities.
Mine are my kids.

my life is dedicated to spending time with my kids so they develop as much love for the outdoors as I have.
I find I enjoy the happiness I see on others faces, especially kids.
That is why I am involved with my kids and their friends, both at their schools and at home.
Next January I will be at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs to be certified by USA Archery, then returning to college to get a Bachelors degree and teaching certificate to go along with my National Archery in the Schools and USAA certifications.
I want my kids to see that a person can have fun without drugs and alcohol, and the outdoors is a place to go to to connect with nature, not escape from the realities of life.
If there is something wrong with that, I don't want to be right.
