We had the Mt view archery two years ago, the other thing to be aware of is the Indians hunt that area with rifles at the same time we are in there with our bows, saw them kill 2 bulls in east wenaha that year!
it's pretty tough hunting when Indians are blasting everything with rifles! I seen it first hand last year!

Indians were bad in Tuccannon last year. Saw a nice 7x8 behind a locked gate. Couldn't get on it so we backed out. Hunted it a few days later. Gut pile in the road, lock broke, and a forest service guy said he saw a big bull in the back of a truck with Idaho plates that morning.

Saw a nice 6x6 day before season started. Hunted it a little. Another f the tag holders was hunting it also. They drove up to try and glass it and a few natives were parked there. They went to turn around and the natives started shooting in the air etc. Idaho plates also.

Need to make it all draw. No more OTC tags then the natives would be limited also. It's ridiculous we wait a lifetime to draw a tag and they hunt it every year.

Sorry rant over.

Brewha PM incoming.

A few more things. I would skip a drop camp. I believe it's way better to be mobile then stuck in the same spot. Where we would have gotten packed into there were lots of wolf and lion tracks. Had two different lions on cams about 3 miles apart and saw a female with 2 cubs. Also all the elk were down low since it was dry and predators on top. It sucks to have to hike back up to the top every night just to get back to camp.

Hunt the whole season. My brother and I would not have killed nice bulls if we hadn't hunted the whole season. The bulls seemed way more responsive the last week.

FYI. Beau can only outfit in the east half of the east wenaha. Mtncook has the west half of that unit. So depending on what part of the unit  is who you'll have to talk with. I think the dividing line is the Columbia/Garfield county line. Or the ridge lines closest to that line. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Sure would be nice if a group of guys started messing with those tribes, stuff like that is just a bit aggravating. Flatten tires, broken guns, few other things I can't recommend. Same ole BS.  Hope you don't experience the bad stuff and kill a pig!  If you do see the ugly tribal crap, please turn on your phone and record!

I had a rifle tag in 2010. We did it all off of our backs and went 6 miles in. From there we hunted a couple more miles in. If I had to do it over again Mtncook would have gotten a call for sure. I was in very good shape but that county is very unforgiving. Some of the most amazing country the state has to offer. The problem is when you find a bull he might be a mile away but on foot he might be 4 big ugly miles away.

I can't remember for sure but I think you said you have an archery tag so a lot of problems I had you won't. Like a foot of snow the first night. Fog and constant visibility issues. Archery season you have longer days, bugling elk and less snow. Like the others said you have to be in shape and don't take the country lightly or you will never forgive yourself. Ask me if you need anything. I don't know every inch like some others do but I did get to know the area I went. Like I said it was in 2010.
