OldMule Deer Mount Question
« on: June 21, 2016, 11:33:48 AM »
I have a very respectable 4x4 velvet mule deer that my grandfather shot in the 30's (would be my guess) and I was wonder how hard it is to find a red summer cape instead of the fall-time grey? I'd really like to get it re-mounted but the mismatch would look all wrong. Thanks.

Find an early archery friend that shoots a buck that they don't want to mount and ask for the hide. Go to some taxidermist and let them know you're looking for a early season hide. I've taken a few hides to local taxidermist to give to people in need of one.
