Great write up Karl.  I have to tell you there is no end to this story,  we will keep making memories and remembering Aaron everytime we step into the hills.

Aaron done many many things for his country, his family and others that we just dont know about yet.  But I do know he brought one of the greatest group of people that I have ever met together as a team..  For that I am gratefull.

Thank you for your friendship, and sharing your stories about Aaron and your family.

You may be a little guy :chuckle: but you have a heart of a giant and a hell of a hunter!

Oh and I got a really really nice 350.00 elk call..   GETSUM

I kill elk and eat elk, when I'm not, I'm thinking about killing elk and eating elk.

It doesn't matter what you think...

Well Said , I'm truly honored to have been a part of it . I have felt so many emotions through the last couple years , Knowing the passing of Arron brought us together and knowing with that was such loss for family and friends . I keep telling myself that is what creates a legacy for a man . Arron was to young no doubt but he brought so many people together in different ways and made many realize how trivial the little day to day bothers are in the big picture. For that I'm thankful every day. You have done so much to honor him and to show respect for those who serve us all (that's part of your legacy ) .....I'm also glad that you left out the part about the big fella getting a eye full of dust.
it wasn't dust, it was elk urine from your hat :chuckle:

Karl, we are not done yet with honoring Aaron. There is lots more to come, he was a great man and you are a stand up brother for all you are doing. The way things like this bring good people together is kind of spooky, things happen for a reason. I can't wait to get going on the next chapter with you.

BLRman you have honored all with this hunt. Here are just a few words that came to mind after reading your hunt write up, and I got dust in my eyes reading it.

                                                                                 WHO COULD HAVE KNOWN

On a spring day a son would be born whom all would adore
That was a brother to many more than his own

He was a Son Husband Father Marine Solider Friend but most of all he was loved
                                                     by all
                                                     Whom passed his way
Along his way many a Friend he had

He flew thru the sky soaring on high like the eagles above
                                                     Protecting what he loved
His love of Country Life Family Friends Nature and much much more

In the spring of his passing many weaped and mourned how could it be
Our Colockumelk who was loved so could be no more

He was no more in our sight but within our hearts and minds
For he will ever soar like the the eagles above in all our hearts and lives....

Karl, I too agree that the story of this hunt needs to be published in a magazine. I'll share a short back story and a quote that has lived with me since the day I heard it, which is the driving force behind why this story should be shared on a national level.

On May 31 2011 my buddy was killed by an enemy RPG. Coincidently this ocurred probably less than 7 klicks from FOB Shank. During the memorial service my CO relayed the above referenced message.

Cpt Benson relayed the following;

“I give you all one last duty for Richard and that’s to tell the American people of his sacrifice"

"you’ll never forget the heroes that you served with. You will carry that weight for the rest of your life but the American people will not know of their sacrifices unless you share it with them."

I think you are doing exactly that, allowing people to see the sacrifices that not only our service members make, but also their loved ones. By publishing this amazing story you would further share the sacrifices.

I don't think anyone could read that write up and not shed a tear!  I agree with many others, if you are comfortable with it, your story definitely needs to be shared in one of the major publications.  It has all the components we all stand for - the love of family, our country, our freedoms and hunting!  Not to mention the end result of an amazing bull to wrap it all up.  Thanks again Karl (and the whole Get Sum team) for bringing us along on this journey.  You know Aaron was standing right there beside you when you were crying in to your hands next to that bull!

Thank you everyone.  Not sure if my writing skills are magazine material though.  I know for a fact that my poor picture quality would eliminate my story from being magazine worthy.  Just read an article a while back about that very thing.  Can't remember what magazine but they said the biggest issue they have is awesome stories but poor quality images  (cell phone pics).  That's the great thing about forums such as this.  Nothing I post has to be approved.

Bugle magazine publishes stories without pictures, go for it. All they can do is say "no".  :dunno: Great job!
