Outdoorsman compact tripod and pan head.

I was thinking about purchasing this set and was wondering about hunter personal experience.  Is it worth the cash?

In my own personal opinion, there is no better tripod/head system out there for a hunter than the outdoorsmans.  Like Bullblaster, I have the medium tripod and outdoorsmans panhead.  Weight to strength ratio is the best out there, and they are American made to boot!  I've never met or talked to anyone who regretted spending the money.  As the saying goes, buy once cry once.

I'm a gear nut, but my Outdoorsmans tripod is one piece of equipment I have never changed.

I'd go with the medium!

I have the outdoorsman pan head which is great. I don't like their tripod or pistol grip head though. I bought a carbon Gitzo instead.

Lots of great tripods for the same money or even less. I would definitely do some looking.

  didn't mean it was good for only hunters.  Anyone who backpacks and wants a solid, lightweight setup would benefit from an outdoorsmans system.  Individual pan and tilt locks are ideal for grid glassing, or any kind of glassing really, over a tenting style lock. 

Flip locks on the legs are easy to use, even with gloved hands.  The multiple leg positions are amazing at getting the tripod set just right to bring the glass to your face, which is key in combating eye fatigue and neck cramping.  Lastly, there is no plastic anything on these things.  That has always been my complaint with other setups.  Plastic flexes, flexing creates wobbke, and wobble creates a blurred image.  This is just my  so take it for what it's worth.
