Sharptail it's what for dinner
« on: September 01, 2016, 04:35:38 PM »
Had a very good opener today. Five of us went in to the field at 10 am and were back at our camp with full limits of 20 Sharpies with 8 Huns thrown into the mix.  This is "Tink" one of my up and coming stars.  Today was her first true hunting adventure, 6 points, 6 shots equaled 4 Sharpies and 2 Huns.  I am very proud of this little girl.

Its been very strange weather over here this summer.  More rain then most locals can remember but has made the cover outstanding.  In the area I am in, I am convinced we took a very hard hit on the first hatch.  However the second and third hatch very strong lots of young birds.  Today at 1pm  it was 93 out.  Wild, it looks like I will miss you again over here.  Headed back to WA. this Saturday so I will pass you somewhere on I-90.  I need to get some dogs back to their owners.  I will be returning back over here on the 13th. of September and then will be here the rest of the season so if you are still over here give me a shout.

Blue, just headed over for a week, actually a 5 day hunt way down south, the boots on the ground report is there are birds but limited cover due to drought conditions. Sounds like coulee hunting is in our near future and that thrills me not in the least, that's where the rattler encounter was last year. A week away from work with shotguns, rifles and 4 wheel drives is good though. Scattered  Rain saturday through tuesday with Temps of 40 nights and mid 60s days. You have way more cover in your picture than the picture I saw where the Sharptail is being held in Baker. It looks like the surface of the moon there. Have a safe trip.
