Bowhunting during Muzzy/Modern season

Wondering how other bow hunters will be hunting during Oct... Tree stand seems to be the safest bet.

Odd comment regarding safety.  You are in no more danger hunting with a bow during those seasons than with a ML or modern firearm, as long as you wear orange as you are supposed to during modern.   :dunno:

You still have to wear orange so being on the ground you'd be as safe as anyone else, correct? I assume you have a multi-season tag?

I do it all the time.  As long as you have orange on and have a rifle/muzzie/multiseason tag you are allowed to hunt.

I think Smoke is correct, no orange necessary - I guess I should check that.

I'll be out with my bow, as I don't have a muzzle loading gun.  (MS tag)

Yep no orange for muzzy but if there is a modern season open in your area. Got to have the orange.

Well, you heard right.    Modern elk is worse.  Never expect another hunter to exercise good judgement. I can't tell you the number of spots I've found in the dark timber where there's a six pack of empties - some hunter passing the time, just waiting for something to move.

A little flash of orange or red worked into your camo is never a bad idea, even if it isn't required.

I've had numerous situations where deer (whitetails & mulies) and elk have been as close as 4 yards while I was wearing lots of orange. One time had 98 elk (counted every single one of em come out single file walk past me @ 20 yards. Not one of them spooked. Can't say why with a 100% certainty, but I'm convinced it had nothing to do with what I was or was not wearing. Sure it was the fact that they didn't smell me and I didn't move. But hey! Maybe they sensed I didn't have a cow tag in my pocket :chuckle:
My  :twocents: wear the Orange. Way more important to come out of the modern rifle season safely

I think deer are color blind to a degree so can't pick up bright orange - I tend to wear it even when not required.  That said, I'm partial to the kind with camo markings to break up your figure a little bit.
