Glocks are pretty bombproof, saltwater is not an issue and a bit of fine sand should not be an issue. I remember an article in Guns and Ammo (?) about 25 years ago torture testing a first generation G17. The ignorant and closed minded had really defamed Glock in the press as being weak, unsafe, plastic, inaccurate, and just an overall sloppy gun on par with a Hi-Point. After the author had abused it for thousands of rounds without cleaning it, burying it in the sand, dropping it, throwing it, and then hiding it in an ocean reef for a month, the final test was burying it in a cow flop. Never malfunctioned through all that abuse.
