Decoys
« on: October 09, 2016, 10:08:00 PM »
Wondering How many of you guys hunt with coyote decoys? Greater success rate? Any favorite brands?
What's the ideal setup with a decoy and fox pro call with motion jack. Place call and decoy next to each other? How far a distance?

Are you referring to an actual coyote replica decoy or a motion decoy like a fox jack to go along with the calling? I use a motion decoy with the caller and it does it's job in keeping the attention of the coyote. They've literally come right up to it. As for a coyote replica, I have tried it a couple times but no yotes came to those setups so I can't say either way.
Fish hard, hunt harder!

I have the foxjack on my foxpro. Seems to work ok. I was wondering about a coyote replica decoy. Do they help?

Using a coyote decoy may deter some yotes accept for mating season...from what I've been told and from what I've seen.  Even without decoys I've seen them hang-up 600 yards+ not daring to come further.  probably cause they are too close to some big male's territory.  My buddies and I have tried to use a full decoy a couple times but no luck.  Mainly just the rotating furry decoy that will catch their eye and give them 2 of 3 things they want - sight and sound.  They are more likely to bypass trying to circle to wind you if they got 2 of 3.
